Coloured suede for bags and footwear. A chrome-tanned cowhide suede split bend, made in Spain: soft, supple and velvety on both sides, in a range of colours that work well together. It cuts cleanly, stitches easily and drapes naturally.

Chrome-tanned suede split for bags and footwear
The suede split is the inner layer of the cowhide, the part left beneath the grain when the hide is split. It has no grain: both sides are napped, with the suede feel so popular for bags, shoes and ankle boots. The Suede Colours collection offers it as a bend, the back of the hide where the thickness is most even, in a wide range of colours.
Why chrome-tanned
Chrome tanning gives a soft, stable leather that doesn’t stiffen when wet and holds its colour. At 1.4–1.6 mm it is thin and easy to handle: it cuts with a craft knife or scissors, folds without marking and can be stitched by hand or by machine.
Frequently asked questions
Can it be dyed or tooled? No. Being chrome-tanned and napped, it can’t be tooled or dyed like veg tan leather, which is why we offer it ready-coloured.
How do I care for it? Use a suede brush to lift the nap and a stain-protector spray.
Note: leather is a natural product, so it may have small marks. They are not defects but an expression of its natural character and of the uniqueness of each piece.
